Substance Abuse Therapist

Provide substance abuse counseling to clients of The Salvation Army Harbor Light System in accordance with Harbor Light policies and procedures.
Conduct individual, group, and educational counseling sessions
Maintain case records in accordance with Harbor Light standards
Distribute/collect treatment satisfaction surveys at beginning of treatment, mid treatment and at discharge
Follows up to determine reliability and validity of individual client treatment plan established; makes recommendations regarding modification to services and service delivery
Maintain contact with referral sources, (i.e., gatekeeper, parole/probation agents) submitting requests for authorization for treatment as well as required reports
Complete discharge documentation on each client to include aftercare plan, referral and letters to referring agencies
Participates in the review of all clinical issues, activities and program policies and procedures
Attends all clinical staff meetings, and team conferences
Participates in educational courses, seminars, workshops, current literature and in-service meetings to enhance treatment skills
Understand and work within The Salvation Army and Harbor Light Mission Statements
Possess an excellent working knowledge of The Harbor Light Policies and Procedures
Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
HIPAA - Level 1 access to Clinical Records
Must possess a Master's or Bachelor's degree in the Behavioral Science (Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or Addiction Studies) with significant course work in substance abuse treatment.
Must possess Addiction Counselor Certification (FAODP/MAFE)
Must possess MCBAP appropriate license (CAADC, CADC-M, CADC)
Minimum 18 months experience working in the field of substance abuse plus at least the equivalent of a 6 month Masters level internship in the field of substance abuse
Possess American Society of Addiction Medicine Training or receive training within one year of employment
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications, and Email
Experience using Electronic Medical Records systems preferred
Possess good communication skills and teamwork skills
Basic Computer skills

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
