Security Engineer - Remote

A2 Hosting is currently looking for an experienced Security Engineer to join our team! The Security Engineer is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and enhancing the established security measures that are in place to protect the systems and networks from unauthorized activity.
Working alongside a team of passionate professionals and leaders, the Security Engineer will be an integral part in ensuring that A2 Hosting is a leader in secure and reliable web hosting services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Implement and maintain security solutions to detect breaches and intrusions on systems and networks
Monitor detection systems for indications of unusual activity or compromise
Review and analyze logs, investigate events to identify incidents and provide response
Perform forensic investigations to determine incident impact and remediation methods
Assist with risk analysis, collaborate on mitigation methods, and implement risk management solutions
Perform vulnerability assessments, prioritize report results, and recommend methods to remediate risks and vulnerabilities
Implement and maintain security solutions to detect breaches and intrusions on systems and networks
Assist with maintaining system/software inventory, patching, and reported vulnerabilities
Install and maintain software that monitors systems and networks for security breaches
Perform related duties as assigned, within scope of practice, to ensure individual, team, and organizational success.
Required Skills and Experience
A minimum of 3 years experience in a security-focused engineering role
Experience in a web hosting or similar technology company strongly preferred
Firm understanding of fundamental security concepts, protocols, and principles, including forensic investigation processes and methodology
Strong working knowledge of Linux structure and operation
Familiarity with common security controls, security libraries, and common security flaws
Understanding of EDR/XDR systems, event investigation, and incident response process
Knowledge of security systems including anti-malware applications, content filtering, firewalls, authentication systems, and intrusion detection and notification systems
Understanding of network security and network monitoring solutions
Familiarity with common attack vectors, passive and active attack vector exploits
Experience with vulnerability management processes and tools, including verifying weaknesses in system design preferred
Ability to create scripts using Bash or Python a plus

A2 Hosting is a fully remote organization with a globally distributed workforce.
With that, there is a lot of flexibility on where our team members can work, although there may be position specific limitations or requirements for the role.
